BOSTON, Oct. 17, 2017 – The 2017 B.A.A. Half Marathon marked the final event the New England Acura Dealers Association (NEADA) participated in as the official automotive sponsor. The other events included the Boston Marathon, B.A.A. Half Marathon, and B.A.A. 5K.
This concludes the NEADA’s five-year community initiative under its campaign, “We Are Boston.” During this time, the association partnered with Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) from 2012 – 2016, and with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) for 2016 and 2017 events.
To close the partnership, the NEADA provided the 2018 Acura RDX and 2018 Acura TLX to serve as pace cars in the race, as well as a 2017 MDX for display in their booth.
The NEADA also hosted 3 runners, including Cheryl George (47), a teacher from Danvers, Mass., who ran her first Boston Marathon in April for Acura of Peabody.
“This experience was truly extraordinary. The [NEADA] loved being involved in one of the most celebrated New England traditions, as well as in the community,” said Chris Connolly, general manager of Herb Connolly Acura and the president of the association. “Even though our partnership with the B.A.A. has come to an end, we can’t wait to cheer on Boston, the B.A.A. and the Miles for Miracles team this spring.”
Johnny Dang, general manager of Prime Acura, said “We just dropped off the TLX pace car, and it was bittersweet knowing we won’t be leading the pack of talented runners this year. But, this has been such a great experience. We met some talented runners, raised significant funds for local charities, and were part of the great tradition of running in Boston.”
