The New England Acura Dealers (NEADA) sold its twenty-thousandth Acura vehicle, completing its pledge to raise $1 million for the Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) by November 2016. Since 2012, the NEADA has donated a portion of the proceeds from every Acura sold to the BCH Children’s Fund, an unrestricted fund that supports the hospital’s areas of greatest needs in patient care, research and community health.
“Everyone in New England has been touched by BCH in some way. As a parent, it gives you peace of mind to have such a great facility in your backyard, with doctors and research so close to home. I am proud of the work our dealerships did to hit this one million dollar mark. We love helping community and the friends we have made during our BCH partnership,” said Chris Connolly, president of NEADA and general manager of Herb Connolly Acura.
The NEADA also served as a major sponsor at all BCH signature fundraising events and initiatives, including the Champions for Children Gala, McCourty Brothers Sickle Cell Casino Night, Milagros para Niños Gala, Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am Tournament and the 2016 Boston Marathon Miles for Miracles team. To learn more about NEADA’s support of BCH, please visit www.NEAcuraDealersNews.com.
“We are so proud of the good [the donation] has brought BCH. Over the last 4 years, we have enjoyed meeting doctors, learning of the research breakthroughs, bringing smiles to patients during craft days and hearing the success stories that could only happen at BCH,” said Joel Avery, NEADA board member and GM at Acura of Peabody. He continued, “Watching Miles for Miracles runners don jerseys with Acura logos, seeing our cars on display at events, as well as participating in many of the fundraisers ourselves – now we get to see how the NEADA and its customers helped.”
The New England Acura Dealers Association (NEADA), official automotive sponsor of the Boston Marathon, announced the “I Run Boston” contest with their partner the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.). The “I Run Boston” contest is designed to provide an online forum for athletes to share their personal stories of strength and love for Boston, while also providing one runner a second opportunity to register for the 2017 Boston Marathon.
“There’s an immense love for sports, spirit, and support in Boston,” said Chris Connolly, NEADA president and general manager of Herb Connolly Acura. “The energy was contagious when I ran the marathon this past April, and it will remain an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to provide someone else this same opportunity to run next year’s Boston Marathon.”
The contest will collect video submissions from Oct. 3 to Nov. 6. Entrants must share a 30-second video on Instagram conveying why they want to run the 2017 Marathon. Entries must tag @NEAcuraDealers and use hashtag “#IRunBoston”. Athletes from Massachusetts or New Hampshire with a valid 2017 B.A.A. qualification time but who failed to gain entry are invited to enter. No purchase is necessary to participate or win.
A panel of judges from the B.A.A., NEADA, Lagardère Sports, and Tier10 will select four finalists. The public can vote for their favorite here from Oct. 28 to Nov. 6. Just one lucky runner will be selected to run Boston’s historic race on April 17, 2017.
“The [NEADA] will offer one qualified applicant an opportunity of a lifetime,” said Tom Grilk, executive director of the B.A.A. “It is one of the things that our important sponsors can do that help us to generate excitement throughout the year.”
This marks NEADA’s second year as an official sponsor of the Boston Marathon. For 2017, NEADA will continue its “We are Boston” campaign, with the “I Run Boston” contest as its newest addition.
