The New England Acura Dealers Association (NEADA) acted as a key sponsor again at the annual Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am Tournament, in partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation, to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH). This year’s tournament took place April 22nd through 24th and funds raised directly benefitted BCH’s Pediatric Head Trauma Unit.
The tournament kicked off with a draft party on Fri., April 22 at 6 pm. Guests had the chance to meet some of their favorite NHL legends. The team that raised the most money was given first pick in the Draft and got to select a former NHL great as a teammate for the rest of the tournament. The more each team raised, the higher their draft pick.
“Acura is all about performance and so are sports. Coming off the successful high
of sponsoring the Boston Marathon, it is great to turn our attention to the ice and raise money for our partner, Boston Children’s Hospital,” said Bob Gerlotti of Acura of Boston, of the NEADA’s seven dealerships.
The official tournament ran Sat., April 23, through Sun., April 24. Over the course of the weekend, all teams took place in a three-game tournament, with the top two fundraising teams facing off in the championship. The NEADA provided a vehicle for display from the signature Acura lineup.
Funds raised during the Pro-Am Tournament will allow BCH’s Pediatric Head Trauma Unit to, “launch a formal local and regional baseline testing program, expand research efforts by supporting pilot grants in all areas of brain injury research, [and] create opportunities for new, multidisciplinary research projects to create transformative models of care.”
Boston Children’s Hospital is a world leader in the care and research of children’s health. NEADA’s sponsorship at the Corey C. Griffin Pro-Am tournament and other community fundraising events is part of their continuing effort to raise one million dollars for the hospital by the end of 2016.
