New England Acura Sets the Pace at 2017 Boston Marathon

BOSTON – From the 2017 Acura NSX setting the pace of the 121st Boston Marathon, to escorting Grand Marshals Bobbi Gibb and Dave McKenzie in the “We are Boston” MDX, to the many spirited weekend events, the New England Acura Dealers (NEADA) ran a successful automotive sponsorship at the 2017 Boston Marathon.

“It makes us proud to be so involved in this great New England tradition. All the Boston Athletic Association’s hard work paid off. We are grateful for the volunteers, excited crowds, and dedicated runners, this is what makes Boston one of a kind,” said Joel Avery, NEADA treasurer and general manager of Acura of Peabody, “I was at the finish line to see my cousin, Cheryl George finish, plus seeing the elites, Ben Beach and Kathrine Switzer, what a rush, 26.2 miles and still smiling.”

NEADA’s chosen runners also raised over $50,000 for charities throughout the area, including the Boston Children’s Hospital Children’s Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Hoffman Breast Cancer Center, and the Joe Andruzzi Foundation.

“We love seeing the community come together for Marathon Monday, it makes us proud to be New Englanders. From our first time marathon runners, to the husband-wife duo, to the charity runners we are so proud of our runners accomplishment,” Todd Irving, general manager of Acura of Boston.

“To see Acura showcased on a national platform is truly humbling. We can’t wait to do it again at the [BAA] half marathon come October,” said Matthew Phillips, Senior District Sales Manager for American Honda Motor Company. NEADA was particularly excited to offer spectators on the marathon route an opportunity to take a virtual tour of Boston in 360 VR.
